Whether you're looking to enhance engagement or provide dynamic content, this guide will walk you through the steps needed to integrate audio elements effectively, empowering you to enrich your messaging strategy and connect with your audience in a more interactive manner.

Prepare your audio file

In order to send audio files as voice notes, you need to convert them to .ogg, the only format accepted by WhatsApp. Your .ogg audio file must also have the following characteristics:

  • Mono Channel

  • Codec Opus

  • Low bitrate

PRO TIP: You can record your audio directly on WhatsApp. Simply send it to yourself as a regular voice note, then open WhatsApp Web and download it to your computer. It will have the correct format.

Enable the audio extension on your File Manager

If you are a member of the Reseller Program, you must configure the audio extension on your app's File Manager so that you and your users can upload audio files. If you have an End Customer license, you can skip these steps.

  1. Log into your Admin account.

  2. Click on 'Settings' in the left sidebar.

  3. Go the File Manager section.

  4. On the 'Allow file extensions' box add ogg.

  5. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on 'Save'.

Add your audio file to your chatbot

You can add your audios to your chatbot as you would with any other media, such as videos and images.

  1. Open the app.

  2. Go the WhatsApp section on the left sidebar.

  3. Click on Chatbot.

  4. Look for the account where you wish to add the audio file and click on 'Add item'.

  5. Configure all the settings as usual (check this tutorial of you need help). Make sure to add the keywords that will trigger this voice message.

  6. In the 'Media file' section, add your audio. Click on the button shown in the image to upload it directly from your computer. You can also import it from Google Drive, OneDrive and Dropbox.

  7. Optionally, add a text message on the Caption box to accompany your audio. If you wish to send it alone, just leave this box empty.

  8. When you are done, click on 'Save'. Your voice note will now be sent whenever somebody types the selected keywords in your WhatsApp conversations.

Add your audio file to a bulk campaign

Add your audios to your bulk messages as you would with any other media, such as videos and images.

  1. Create a bulk campaign and configure it as usual (follow this tutorial if you need help).

  2. In the 'Media file' section, add your audio. Click on the button shown in the image to upload it directly from your computer. You can also import it from Google Drive, OneDrive and Dropbox.

  3. Optionally, add a text message on the Caption box to accompany your audio. If you wish to send it alone, just leave this box empty.

  4. When you are done configuring the rest of your bulk campaign, click on 'Schedule'.
